Soaring Eagle Academy is located in a 13,000 square foot building in Burr Ridge, Illinois. The Academy is a calm and nurturing environment that supports our student’s individual needs. School and classroom décor respects and reflects our student’s individual sensory motor, auditory and visual processing sensitivities, as well as provides for a variety of individual interests.
The Academy includes large classrooms that accommodate multi-sensory, experiential learning and social environments for primary and intermediate age students, with plans to expand to a high school area within the next two years. Students explore among classroom areas that offer opportunity for symbolic play, building/creating, listening, dramatic play, sensory and motor integration, and self-calming/regulation. Academic curriculum content areas of reading and writing, math, science, social science, art and music are available for student-guided learning and semi-structured, teacher directed learning. Students are actively engaged in meaningful and interactive learning according to their age and level of development.

Our large and small Sensory Motor Gyms are available to students throughout the school day. They are equipped with suspended equipment and other multi-sensory materials to promote sensory and motor modulation and integration. Activities that develop and support tactile (how we process the sense of touch), vestibular (how we process movement of the body under gravity), proprioceptive (how we process information from our muscles and joints), motor planning (how we plan, sequence and execute a novel action), and visual-spatial processing (how we understand and process what we see) is critical for student learning, interaction and daily living skills.

Floortime rooms are available to students and staff for individual, dyad and small group interactions, to develop and support regulation, mutual engagement, language and communication, problem solving, symbolic play, abstract and critical thinking opportunities, motor planning, peer interactions and expression of ideas.
A Library/ Reading Room is available to students for exploring reading materials individually or in small groups. Reading materials are tailored to students’ interests and facilitate a joy for reading.
Our planned high school expansion will include a Kitchen / Daily Living area which will serve as a dynamic environment for supporting student goal areas of self-help/independence, problem solving, social peer interactions, motor planning. It will also provide a rich, real-life environment to learn and apply academic concepts for Math, Reading, Writing, Science, as well as, preparation for vocational training.
