Soaring Eagle Academy is seeking to locate in the northwest and western suburbs, which encompasses Park Ridge and Des Plaines, and portions of Glenview, Morton Grove, Niles, Norridge, Harwood Heights and Rosemont. The Academy will be a calm and nurturing environment that will support our student's individual needs. School and classroom décor will respect and reflect our student's individual sensory motor, auditory and visual processing sensitivities, as well as provide for a variety of individual interests.

The Academy will include large classrooms that will accommodate multi-sensory, experiential learning and social environments for primary, intermediate and high school age students. Students may explore among classroom areas that offer opportunity for symbolic play, building/creating, listening, dramatic play, sensory and motor integration, and self-calming/regulation. Academic curriculum content areas of reading and writing, math, science, social science, art and music will be available for student-guided learning and semi-structured, teacher directed learning. Students will be actively engaged in meaningful and interactive learning according to their age and level of development.

Our large and small Sensory Motor Gyms will be available to students throughout the school day. They will be equipped with suspended equipment and other multi-sensory materials to promote sensory and motor modulation and integration. Activities that develop and support tactile (how we process the sense of touch), vestibular (how we process movement of the body under gravity), proprioceptive (how we process information from our muscles and joints), motor planning (how we plan, sequence and execute a novel action), and visual-spatial processing (how we understand and process what we see) will be critical for student learning, interaction and daily living skills.

Floortime rooms will be available to students and staff for individual, dyad and small group interactions, to develop and support regulation, mutual engagement, language and communication, problem solving, symbolic play, abstract and critical thinking opportunities, motor planning, peer interactions and expression of ideas.

Our Kitchen / Daily Living area will serve as a dynamic environment for supporting student goal areas of self-help/independence, problem solving, social peer interactions, motor planning. It will also provide a rich, real-life environment to learn and apply academic concepts for Math, Reading, Writing, Science, as well as, preparation for vocational training.

A Library/ Reading Room will be available to students for exploring reading materials individually or in small groups. Reading materials will be tailored to students’ interests and facilitate a joy for reading.

A safe, enclosed outdoor area will be available for outdoor breaks, recess, gym and play.

Soaring Eagle Academy is a 501(c)(3) non-profit registered in the state of Illinois.
